Very idyllic, compact family château. It is situated in the Bourbonnais country side without any direct neighbours. Beautiful views over the sloping hills, enormous property of 18ha for a bargain price! The many outbuildings with an interesting architecture are suitable for many applications. It needs a little refurbishing and a new crepie (cement & chalk) layer on the facade.

Specific period style finishings of this property include ornamental front-door, ornamental carved stone, authentic staircase, oak parquet floors, marble ornamental chimney pieces.

The Château (Napoleon III style) is situated in the countryside in the Bourbonnais area, (Allier, near Paris: 300km). It dates from the XIXth century, in a park/estate of 18ha.

Interior Impressions

The Château has a surface of approx. 480 m² (gross) in original style. The total roofed surface including the outbuildings is approx. 1470 m² (gross).

The original details of the chateau include bronze door and window handles, chimnee pieces and some ceiling rosets, some boiseries. It breathes the romantic countryside atmosphere. Whilst the Château has been lived in the last 37 years, it needs a little work regarding paint, wallpaper, etc., and a new crepie (cement & chalk) layer on the facade. Electrics, plumberie and heating are functioning fine, they are dated (1975), but not urgent to replace.

 

Plan of the Château

The Château's layout is as follows:

- Cellars under the whole Château, extremly well preserved, with soil flooring (for wines and vegetables) as well as solid floors (heating, storage area, kitchen space, etc).

- The Rez-de-Chaussée has a central entrance hall and staircasing leading to the first floor, on the left side 2 salons in which 1 contains the current kitchen, on the right side another 2 salons

- The first floor basically follows the layout of the RdC with an additional bathroom.

- The attic contains 5 rooms with 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms that actually makes 2 independent apartments.

Outbuildings

Outbuildings include: Many outbuildings include a gate keeper's house with several rooms. A groupment of outbuildings, maybe alike a little hamlet contains a neo-gothic tower (used for ancient hunting parties), kennels, barns, stables, etc. etc.

Condition of Property

The property needs refurbishing, has new/revised roofing (5 years), needs work on the façade (crepie, finishing layer), has electrical and plumbing works from 1975, has central heating.Call us (not just email!) for an estimation/explanation done by a Maître d'Oeuvres (Château specialist) for maintenance costs, any needed works, or even upgrading/restoring with authentic period details.
