Neo-Rennaissance Château in Touraine

The Kennedy's Summer Residence

(Click for gallery)

Beautiful Château, build with the finest materials, overlooking a Touraine valley with clear views. Amidst a very well designed and maintained english park. This used to be an American General's second house in which a very well known family in US politics spend their summer vacation. At its time of construction, it was built with the most expensive materials in- and outside, and was equipped with the most modern technology (eg. central air heating, etc.).

Specific period style finishings of this property include ornamental roofs, ornamental carved stone, monumental staircase, pierre de bourgogne floors, oak parquet floors, marble ornamental chimney pieces, period style rooms, ornamental wall panels in oak.

The Château (Neo-Rennaissance style) is situated in the countryside in the Touraine area, (Indre-et-Loire, near Paris: 250km). It dates from the XIXth century, in a park/estate of 10ha.

Interior Impressions

The Château has a surface of approx. 1075 m² (gross) in original style. The total roofed surface including the outbuildings is approx. 1275 m² (gross).

The abundant architectural details of the façade are continued in the Château's interiors. Oak parquets, Cherry-wood doors and wall-panelling on the first and second floor are eye catchers. And of course, the marble fire places below windows complete the period atmosphere.

The refurbishing needed on the principal floor is the good opportunity to impose your good taste on this Château regarding finishings and dominant color schemes. The second floor (etage 1) does need some serious refurbisment, although the basic structure is in place (no breaking or dust works). Refurbishing costs can be considered to be in the minor category.
